When I recently built my house in Richmond Heights, I needed a landscaper who could handle a challenging terrain and who had a good practical eye. When I asked around, unfortunately many of my neighbors were not particularly pleased with their landscapers. In selecting Hoehnen Landscaping, I was particularly impressed with the personal attention paid to the job by owner Scott Hoehnen. I called references for several landscapers, and I found that Scott was particularly well known for keeping his clients happy. Hoehnen bid all parts of my landscaping, including a sprinkler system, lawn installation, construction of an ornamental retaining wall, shrub planting and construction of a deck.
His bids were very competitive, and I hired him for everything but the deck. In retrospect, I should have given him the whole job, because later I had to ask him to finish the job that my "expert" deck contractor left hanging. Hoehnen subcontracted the sprinkler system to a first-rate irrigation specialist at a great price. I was out of the country when Scott and his crew were ready to get started, and I had to rely on his judgment for the selection of the brick for the retaining wall. His selection was very good, and saved me a lot of needless concern.
As the plantings went in, Scott paid close attention to the early progress of the plants and gave me plenty of guidance in how to get my plants through their critical first summer. Where the Hoehnen crew impressed me most was in their determination to build me a great looking lawn despite a difficult drainage problem. They came in with a nice thick topsoil and a hardy grass mix. They were back through the summer and fall to adjust the drainage until it was just right. Scott's crew are all very courteous and hard working men. Scott is very much a hands-on crew leader who truly knows his trade. I am happy to recommend Hoehnen Landscaping for any of the jobs that I had done. I continue to use Hoehnen for lawn maintenance, and if I didn't enjoy mowing my own lawn so much, would probably have them do that, too!

Hoehnen Landscaping designed and built a custom deck for our new above ground pool. The deck has three different levels and wraps around three sides of our oval pool, covering covering about 1,000 square feet. This was a fairly difficult deck to build, and the quality of work was superb. We constantly receive complements from our friends and guests. Scott is a true craftsman, and his crew was always hard working and on time.
